Dubai Cardiac MRI (Case Review) Course

Join us for our Cardiac MRI Hands-on Case Review Course in the cultural hub of Dubai, as we prepare Cardiologists and Radiologists from across the world, to review CMR cases after Cardiac MRI Level 1

This three-day Cardiac MRI (working towards Level 2*) Course will review 75 cases (contributing to the knowledge and confidence needed as you work towards SCMR Level 2 / EACVI Level within your own hospital setting *.  Developed for Radiology and Cardiology Doctors and trainees who have already completed Cardiac MRI Level 1, you'll have the chance to review a range of Cardiac MRI cases to continue to improve your technique and diagnosis. 

Starting off our course with a CMR physics and sequences summary, we'll look at volumes and reporting, before moving on to a range of Ischaemic heart disease cases (Stress, Viability and Acute). Day 2 will focus on Congenital cases in addition to Cardiomyopathies, and we'll finish on Day 3 looking at Valves/Vascular, Pericardial disease/masses and Incidental findings.

Supported by Neosoft, you'll gain hands-on experience using suiteHEART software providing fully automated segmentation via preprocessing for function, flow, and myocardial characterization. Take a look at suiteHEART in action on YouTube here.

Facilitated by Clinical Lead – Dr John Paul Carpenter, Consultant Cardiologist at Healthpoint, UAE, previously at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust in the UK.

Dr. Carpenter has extensive experience in cross-sectional cardiac imaging (cardiac CT and MRI). He is a European (EACVI) certified Level 3 practitioner in Cardiac CT and MRI and a US (SCMR) certified Level 3 practitioner in Cardiac MRI. He is also experienced in additional specialist imaging, including transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and stress echo as well as non-invasive assessment (treadmill testing and Holter analysis) used to evaluate heart function and identify potential cardiac problems. His research focused on the use of cardiac MRI in patients with thalassemia and iron overload. He also has a specific interest in cardio-oncology, treating patients with cancer-related heart problems. Dr Carpenter is Co-Chair for Certification for EACVI for all 7 imaging modalities, having previously been the EACVI Examination Board Chair for CMR and Co-Chair for CMR Lab Accreditation. He is also a founding board member of the British Cardio-Oncology Society.

* PLEASE NOTE: This course does not provide cases that can be used towards SCMR Level 2 .and EACVI Level 2 log books, but acts as an opportunity to review cases, using workstations, with supervision and support covering essential learning needed to complete cases within a hospital setting as part of a fellowship after the course.
