Course overview
This course provides a focused exploration of postoperative imaging, with an emphasis on imaging techniques used after surgery for both extraspinal and spinal sites.
Key highlights
Designed for healthcare professionals and medical students, this 2.5 hour course will enhance your understanding of how to evaluate and interpret imaging findings following surgical interventions.
You will learn to recognise normal postoperative changes and identify potential complications through various imaging modalities.
What you will learn:
- Key imaging modalities (e.g., X-ray, MRI, CT) used to evaluate patients after surgery.
- How to identify normal postoperative changes and differentiate them from pathological findings.
- Specific imaging challenges associated with common surgeries like joint replacements and spinal fusions.
- Techniques for detecting postoperative complications, such as infections, hardware failure, and improper healing.
- How to interpret imaging of extraspinal sites, including fractures and soft tissue surgeries.
- Best practices for follow-up imaging to monitor recovery and ensure surgical success.
The session will be conducted by Dr Dennis K. Bielecki, MD, Diagnostic Radiologist with a specialist in Musculoskeletal radiology. With over 30 years of experience in bone and joint radiology, Dr. Bielecki is a Senior Musculoskeletal (MSK) Specialist Radiologist at King’s College Hospital, one of the UK’s leading academic and research hospitals.
