Dr Sorani’s MSK radiology training was based at the Royal Liverpool and Broadbeen University Hospitals, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, Royal Orthopaedic Hospital and Royal Derby Hospital.
At queen’s Medical Centre, which is the 4th largest acute teaching hospital in the UK and a level 1 national trauma centre, he gained a range of diagnostic and practical skills in handling a busy and fast-paced workload. He also undertook various management and teaching roles.
Dr Sorani undertook three months period of Out of Programme Training (OOPT) at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital at Birmingham, where he gained experience in diagnosis and imago-guided procedures related to primary bone tumours and soft tissue sarcoma. He also had the opportunity to participate in the bone tumour and spinal MDT meetings.
In July 2014, Dr Sorani joined the musculoskeletal radiology team at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals as a musculoskeletal radiology fellow. It had been a great educational experience and invaluable training opportunity learned new MSK skills and improved his diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities. He performed various MSK ultrasound and image guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; including fluoroscopy and CT guided intervention independently.
He also actively participated in a weekly MDTs for sarcoma, spinal, upper limb and soft tissue and bone infection. In August 2015, he joined the MSK team at the South Manchester University Hospitals as a locum consultant MSK radiologist. Subsequently, he has undertaken a substantive consultant radiology post at the Salford Royal University Hospital.
