Dr Patel is a BHF Senior Lecturer and Consultant Cardiologist at University College London and UCLH NHS Trust. His research focus is in investigating coronary heart disease (CHD) using “big data”. This includes utilising large cohorts with genetics and “omic” technologies, e-health records, national registries and health informatics, to better understand disease mechanisms, predict risk, and identify and validate novel drug targets. He has a specific interest in secondary prevention of CHD and works at the National Centre for Cardiovascular Prevention and Outcomes and The Farr Institute in London. Clinically Dr Patel specialises in cardiac CT and echocardiography, and investigating and managing high-risk CHD patients.
