About The Event
Welcome to UK Interventional Radiology On-demand updates for Interventional Radiologists, Consultant Radiologists, Interventional Cardiologists and Registrars/Cardiology trainees undertaking interventional procedures. Also suitable for Interventional Radiographers/Nurses looking to gain a wider knowledge to support their roles.
With days dedicated to Vascular Intervention, Non-Vascular Oncology Intervention, Neuroradiology Interventional Radiology, and Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology, we offer 4 days worth of thought-provoking seminars contributing to 24 CME points (6 per day).
Reviewing a range of non-vascular techniques, from ultrasound-guided Biopsies to FNAC including superficial, deep lesions and co-axial techniques, we’ll consider best practices whilst reviewing a range of Abdominal, Gynaecological and Body Imaging cases from a host of UK speakers.
From Fibroid embolisation, to Biliary Stents we’ll also cover Ablation through to Stroke Imaging whilst looking at new devices for aneurysm treatment.
You’ll learn in an open and friendly virtual environment, as we welcome those in training or newly appointed, through to fully qualified and experienced practitioners looking for a study break opportunity.
PROGRAMME BY DAY
- Day 1 - Vascular Interventional
With Dr Mark Regi, Consultant Interventional Radiologist & Training and Education Lead with colleagues from Manchester, Coventry and Leeds.
Programme includes AVMs and vascular access update, Atherectomy update, below the knee intervention and imaging, Aortic dissection update and complex aortic intervention update, and Prostate artery intervention.
Join Uk specialists Dr Tony Goddard, and Dr Hamed Nejadhamzeeigilani, Consultant in Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology at Leeds who will provide tuition in imaging and treatment of haemorrhagic and ischaemic neurological conditions. The first part of the course will consist of formal lectures (but open to Q&A) on the principal imaging findings of disease states, analysis and interpretation of CT angiography and CT perfusion will also be discussed. There will be an update on current stroke trials and a look at the potential future of stroke intervention. The second part of the course will be a workshop reviewing state-of-the-art flow models and simulators, to look at co-axial and tri-axial systems for distal vessel catheterisation, clot retrieval, and deployment of intrasaccular and parent artery devices for aneurysm treatment. The final part of the course will be based on actual cases to highlight decision-making difficulties and dilemmas before, during and after cases. These are presented as if they were live with debate at various key decision points.
- Day 3 - Non-Vascular Abdominal Intervention
Starting off with a Uroradiology and Gynae intervention update, we move onto Oncology including embolisation and chemo embolisation and thermal ablation considering a range of cases. We then consider Biliary and hepatobiliary interventions, Pulmonary interventions and thrombolysis, led by Dr Nad Qazi, Consultant Interventional Radiologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
- Day 4 - Interventional Cardiac
With Dr Hussain Contractor and Dr Jaydeep Sarma, Consultant Interventional Cardiologists at Manchester University NHS Trust
Beginning the day with Basic Coronary angiography and intervention, we'll cover access sites, angiographic views, catheter types, workhorse coronary equipment, balloons and stents. Providing a refresher of advanced Coronary Imaging and Physiology, we then look at advanced intravascular imaging including IVUS and OCT as well as advanced coronary physiology with pressure wire assessment of parameters including FFR, IFR, CFR and IMR.
Following this we provide an Advanced Coronary Intervention session, including calcium modification with rotational atherectomy and IVL and advanced CTO techniques including retrograde and ADR. The final session of the day will be a Cath Lab Emergency training update, covering the management of common cathlab emergencies and how to work as a team during life-threatening situations.
